Rural Regeneration Festival

The main idea of this project is to offer a substantial architectural rejuvenation of a public space within the magical context of Badalucco, a medieval village in the Imperia countryside, Italy. The need for the project was born out of the realisation that unique backdrops such as these ancient villages need restorations capable of enhancing the enormous historical and social capital they possess. How will this be achieved? Through projects aligned to the wishes and best interests of the local inhabitants. With its impact on the territory, architecture can be an efficient ally for this purpose as it can restore that alchemic balance between public spaces and its users, a balance that was eroded over time leaving behind bland and empty spaces void of feelings. Despite its frequent usage, the term rehabilitation is more than appropriate in this instance. The project hopes to start the ball rolling with this being first in a series of restorations aimed at a positive transformation that, through participation and sharing of a common goal will ensure Ligurian hamlets are finally able to obtain the recognition they so rightly deserve. The construction site for the project is open to anyone who wishes to contribute valuable ideas to the final draft.
